Fatal highway crash may have involved Foster Farms truck, CHP says

The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed early Friday when his big rig slammed into a pole on northbound Highway 99 in Central California, swamping traffic during the morning rush hour.
California Highway Patrol Officer Kirk Arnold said initial reports indicated that it was a Foster Farms truck that caught fire after it struck a large pole on the highway at about 3:09 a.m. near Floral Avenue in Selma. A photo posted by the Fresno Bee showed a Foster Farms truck along the side of the road, it’s front end collapsed and charred.
“It’s still backing up traffic significantly,” Arnold said about 8:30 a.m.
Arnold said it was unclear what caused the driver to crash into the pole and that an investigation was ongoing.
