[This post has been updated. See note below for details.]

A bit of good news has come out of the horrible crash at this year’s South by Southwest festival: One of the bands played in the hospital room of one of the victims.

As you may recall, a suspected drunk driver plowed into a crowd of pedestrians Thursday morning at 9th and Red River streets, killing two and injuring dozens. [Updated at 10:55 a.m. March 17: Another victim died earlier Monday due to injuries sustained in the accident, raising the death toll to three.]

Among the injured was 18-year-old Mason Endres, who suffered major injuries. including a cervical spine fracture, severed artery and a broken femur.

One of Endres’ favorite bands at SXSW, Arizona’s folk-rockers Jared & the Mill, heard about her condition. To cheer her up, they stopped by to give a private performance in her hospital room, and the Austin American-Statesman has video.

Despite her very serious injuries, Endres is all smiles in the video as Jared & the Mill play an acoustic set around her hospital bed.

If there’s any silver lining to come from this week’s chaos, it’s that music really does have a power to heal. Watch it happen below.
