Android creator Andy Rubin seeks $34.6 million for Bay Area home and vineyard

It makes sense that the creator of Android would have a home with a vineyard rather than an apple orchard.

A corporate entity managed by Andy Rubin, who’s credited with the creation and development of Android, has put this contemporary vineyard estate in the Bay Area on the market for $34.6 million.

The property encompasses 6.4 acres in Woodside, an unincorporated town in San Mateo County, and comprises a 6,000-square-foot main home, a two-bedroom guesthouse and entertainment pavilion. A clay tennis court, a treehouse and a vineyard filled with grafted and producing vines also lie within the grounds.

Set behind gates, the estate is approached by a long driveway that ends at a motor court capped by dual three-car garages.

The primary home, built in 2003, features vaulted ceilings over wood-accented living spaces. A center-island kitchen sits next to a dining area brightened by large custom windows.

The house holds three bedrooms and four bathrooms, and the master suite features sliding glass doors that open to the tree-lined grounds.

Elsewhere on the premises is a swimming pool, spa and sports court.

Rubin, 54, oversaw the development of Android software after the company was acquired by Google in 2005. He co-founded tech incubator Playground Global in 2015, and last year, as the co-founder of Essential Products Inc., he unveiled the “Essential Phone.”

The Dreyfus Group of Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.
